You Just Never Know . . . . She Makes KILLER Pimento Cheese!

You just never know….. she makes killer pimento cheese!

Yesterday I had phone duty in the morning. About 11:00 some agents came in and said they were going to a Realtor luncheon and asked if I would like to tag along. At first I said no because I had already seen the house our firm had the listing for a year prior….but then I decided to go.

So I knew the house but I didn’t know who the new listing agent was until we pulled up. The listing

agent’s name was Suzanne ZickSuzanne Zick yes Suzanne is an Active Rain member and her office is right down the street from ours but I have never met her….until yesterday!! Going into the house while we were in the hallway our Broker-in-Charge (Gail Huss; she is an Active Rain member too and the most awesome BIC) was introducing us to another Realtor and when Suzanne heard my name she came around the corner and said you’re the one on Active Rain that is #1 in our area.

We really skipped the tour because we already knew the house and went straight for the food and conversation. The food was great; especially the killer “homemade” pimento cheese

pimento cheese that Suzanne had made and she promised to get me the recipe….I’m waiting Suzanne! Hopefully, she will be willing to share it with every one here in the Rain too.

So the food was great and the conversation was great too. I do have to say I am pretty proud of the firm I am with because some of the conversation stemmed from sharing ideas and information about the house in hopes of helping Suzanne get the house sold. The prior listing agent (Mike Bost; an awesome caring professional) from our office even offered Suzanne the pictures he had took prior to the seller moving all the furniture out…which looked like a model. Not all realtors work together like this for the real benefit of their clients and former clients.

Needless-to-say the Realtor luncheon turned out to be much more than I expected. I got to meet the real Suzanne Zick (in person) and spent a good thirty minutes in her presences talking shop and just whatever. I got a Suzanne “hug”. I got to listen to two Realtors (from different firms) talking about a clients best interest and both hoping for the house to sell soon…just how much professional is that? I got to have some killer homemade pimento cheese all of this on a rainy/windy day in Denver, NC…you just never know!

P.S.: Suzanne please put me on your invite list for the next one!

Teresa, glad you ventured out and got to meet Suzanne, and of course she got to meet you too. You never know when that next connection will take place. Always be open to them!! Great story with the Pimento Cheese...

What an interesting way to meet people.  I've actually had that happen before too. I was at a class and someone came up to me and said their broker was talking about me at their office meeting... completely different brokerage told her agents to get online and chase me up the ranks of AR. I thought it was funny.

Thanks Gary! Suzanne was a "hoot" and so VERY nice. I was really glad that I did decide to go after all. Take care!

Hi Teresa...Hopefully many non-REALTORS will read your post.  It is good for them to know how helpful many of us are and that the client does matter to us.

I'm a lover of Pimento Cheese also.

Hey Donna, yes when something like that happens it takes you back a minute. I bet with all the years that you have been in this business and being as active as you are with various things including teaching classes, in your case it probably happens more than you know...

Opportunities await around every corner, don't they?  Glad yours turned out well.  I hope she shares the recipe with the rest of us too.  I'll check back =)

Hi Kate, you are so right. I would like to think that most of us in the business do care about the outcome of their clients and it's no all about the $$.

Pimento Cheese - That sounds really good!  I have never had an opportunity to try it or even hear of it in "homemade" form.

Hi Maggie, It's funny that you said that because I did promise myself last December that I would get more involved with meeting others in the business and attend more seminars and just be out there more.... I hope Suzanne shows up!

Teresa.  I bet you are glad that you changed your mind on going to view this house.  You never know what will come of things.  Today was a perfect example of this.  Pimento cheese sounds GREAT.  I hope Suzanne will share the recipe.

Hey Teresa!  So glad you got to meet her--I'm STILL waiting to meet my first Active Rain member!  Can you believe it?  I still haven't met YOU!  And, as for pimento cheese--I make my own too and it is REALLY easy!  If she doesn't get back to you with hers, I'll give you my MawMaw's - it's yummy too!

That is pretty cool! Meeting an ActiveRain member and she works just down the street from you! I bet you are glad you went and had floor duty!

What a wonderful blog post!!  You made my night...and it has been a great night so that is really saying something!

The Holbrooks RE Agents coming to my luncheon was the highlight, and I so enjoyed meeting the 3 of you, but mostly you, Teresa.  I've always wondered who that super blogger was in real life, and now I know :)

You are most welcome to the recipe for that killer pimiento cheese, but when you see how easy it is you will be disappointed in me.

Drew's Homemade Pimiento Cheese

More than anything else I was also impressed with the obvious desire to sell this house, because it is the best thing for the clients.  I'm honored, at times like that, to be a REALTOR.

I just had to check back for the recipe.  Wooops, there it is!   I wrote it down and will try it soon.  I'm also going to email Debe for her MawMaw's.  I have a life-long love of recipe books and tried and true home recipes.

Great to contribute in that way for all, sounds like a really nice luncheon.

It's great to work in a community of realtors who are truly professional and caring and those who work together.  Real estate is the only profession where competitors can sell each other's product and still get paid.  There's no reason not to work together.

Hi Teresa—I was just getting ready to say I hope Suzanne sends you the Killer Pimento Cheese recipe, but then I saw it further down in the comments. Can't wait to try it! I love it when proessionals get together and share as well as support one another. You just never know when something terrific like this can happen. Thanks for a great post!
