Denver, North Carolina has something new / something different / something good and that something is Hangar Skate Park! What’s that? Well it is the brain-child of 36 year-old student pastor Chris Sigmon (aka Siggy) of the 7X Youth Group at Denver Baptist Church here in Denver. It’s a Skate Park that reaches out to the young people to help clear up misconceptions about the kids who ride boards. It was created to offer a positive place where kids can skate and belong.
Tell me more . . . the park opened on June 21, at the former R-Anell Homes property (that Denver Baptist Church purchased about a year ago) the concept is jumping ramps on skateboards or BMX bikes then breaking for Bible study. Currently the skate park is outside and the ramps and benches are covered by a roof. The 10,000 to 15,000 square foot indoor park is expected to be complete by winter.

Teresa - I use to skateboard in my younger days, getting a little old for it now. I still roller blade though. Thanks for the post, it brings back memories.
This is a great idea. I hope the kids will take advantage of it. We have a lot of kids here that skate on someone else's private property and in the street. I am concerned for them.
Robert: Thanks for coming by! I have never used a skateboard, but I use to roller skate and ice skate. Glad you enjoyed the post!
Teresa,
Good for the church and for you for telling us about this. This is a terrific outreach program.
Steve
Hi Teresa! GREAT localism post and what a fun place to 'play!' It surely does beat the children skateboarding on the streets or in the Uptown area where they could be seriously injured. You truly are the Denver NC local expert!
Hey Teresa, That is so cool and what a blessing that the church started it.. That's the same property where they are helping the dogs? Right? God bless,
Steve: Thanks for coming by! Yes, we are really lucky to have some really great churches that do a lot of out reach work and Denver Baptist is on of those.... Take care!
Debe: Thanks for stopping by too! Thanks for the vote of confidence; I'm as crazy about Denver and LKN as you are about Charlotte. I think we are lucky to live in such a nice area... Have a great week!
Cheryl: Thanks for stopping by too! Yes, you are correct. Speaking of the pets, the way they were talking last week they are expecting all animals to be in foster care by this week. We live is such a great caring community! Have a great week!
The city of North Port (neighboring city) built a skate park, and they get lots of kids visiting all the time. I think for the kids this was a great thing to do! And it was and has been very well received by all!
Ron - I would like to see you hang with me in the skate park, we would have to film it and post to the AR network. You couldn't keep up with me brother!
Teresa. I'm glad to hear/see that there is a place for children to play. There aren't that many anymore.. even one is lawsuit happy. I hope this takes off for all concerned.
Valerie: This place sounds like it is off to a good start. In just two months they say they have had around 200 kids. Denver Baptist Church is known to go all out for the children in hopes keep them on the right path.
Teresa: What have you been up to? Come see my latest Max blog!!!
