My First Lead . . .Thank You Active Rain!

Yes, today was a day of surprises for me, good surprises! Don't you just LOVE days like that? One I blogged about earlier tonight titled "A Horse With No Name". The other surprise was that I got my first phone call from someone that read my blog from an Active Rain post, that I wrote last week. So yes blogging does work. It just takes a little time and thought but it is so worth it. I can't wait to see what the future will bring . . . Life is Good in the RAIN!

A Horse With No Name . . .

A Horse With No Name...

O
kay, now I am going to show my age.... I have heard the song, "A Horse Withhorse desertNo Name" by America heck it was a hit in the early 70's, but have you heard of, "A Gift With No Name?" I must admit that I really love doing things for people anonymously and today someone got one over on me. Today, while in the office, I received an envelope with a typed note inside, "Teresa, Thank you for all your help!" Also, inside was a $50.00 Shell gas card. I looked back on the envelope to see if there was a return address or better yet a name and there was none, nothing. I looked on the card that was attached to the gas card to see the To: and From: and there was none, nothing. So here I am sitting and wondering who could this be from. Oh, in the past I have had the occasional plant delivered to the office as a thank you from a client but I have never had someone give me something like this without a name . . . "A Gift With No Name".
                                                                 gift
Now I am wondering if the giver realizes that they are anonymous to me? I hope it wasn't a mistake leaving off their name. Gee, I hope that I won't offend the sender for not sending them a thank you card or failing to mention it while talking to them the next time.
                                          present
So who ever it may be, I hope they know that it was a pleasant surprise . . . . . . .  in fact it made me smile and made my day, "A Gift With No Name" was sent to me today!!

THANK YOU!

Rachael Ray's Nutrish

Rachael Ray’s Nutrish

Looks like a favorite of mine is expanding her culinary empire, Rachael Ray has launched a charity-driven line of dog foods based on her recipes that she has created for her dog, Isaboo. Rachael Ray’s Nutrish will fund Rachael’s Rescue, which is a charity that helps at-risk animals

The first beneficiary is a terrier mix named Spirit that was featured in the news earlier this month. Spirit suffered from multiple fractures after he was savagely beaten at the U.S. – Mexico border. Rachael’s Rescue has offered to cover all medical costs for his recovery.

A line for cats is also in the works…       cat

The Latest for Your Pampered Pet ~ Look Ma, No Paws!

The Latest for Your Pampered Pet ~ Look Ma, No Paws!

PlesiDor Pet Door

The latest and greatest for your pampered pooch or/and pampered puss is the electronic PlexiDor Pet Door. This door can be installed in doors as well as walls. PlexiDor Pet Doors offers an electronic door that is convenient and secure. Your pet wears a coded chip, RFID key, that clips to their collar so that only they can open the pet door as they approach, much like using a garage door opener. The PlexiDor Electronic "reads" the key code on the RFID key and opens only for your pet and it won't interfere with home  security systems. The door just plugs into a household outlet or can be hardwired.

The system is pet and child safe, panel won't close when obstructed. No pinched tails or fingers. Also, panel will not free fall with power failure. RFID keys are waterproof, battery free, shock proof, secure, and work with underground fencing. I don't personally have one of these but it sounds like a pretty neat idea.

Please visit Pet Doors USA for more information.

Made in the USA.

What About Those Funky Beach Towels??

What About Those Funky Beach Towels?

Not the design, the smell . . . towels in chair

Did you know that the perfect breeding ground for fungus can be your own washing machine? Experts say that while leaving the washer door open when not in use and decreasing the amount of detergent and fabric softeners, are good things to do, they won't get to the root of the problem ~ mold and mildew! So an appliance repairman developed an easy product, completely organic powder, called Smelly Washer. lady with washerThey claim it works by disallowing cohesive properties between organic and synthetic compounds. Correcting this problem could help people who suffer from allergies and asthma. I'm not a scientist by any means, nor are any of my family members but my Mother always advised me to add white vinegar every so often to clean out my washer and it seemed to do okay with what I could see..... but then yet it's not quite possible to see everything, is it?

Randy Pausch ~ Looses His Battle. . .

Randy Pausch Looses His Battle...

Randy Pausch , the computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA passed away this morning, July 25th, at his home in Virginia. He was 47. Pausch was known for the "The Last Lecture" which he gave in September 2007, which became an Internet sensation and best-selling book.In September 2006, Pausch was diagnosed with incurable pancreatic cancer. Last fall Pausch and his family moved to Virginia to be closer to his wife's relatives. The Last Lecture is very touching. Pausch doesn't dwell on his illness but rather his childhood, family, and dreams... he grew-up a little awkward but ended up marrying the girl of his dreams and having an amazing career that he loved. At the end of the lecture he tells his audience that the lecture wasn't for them but for his children. . . .
