Mouth-To-Snout Resuscitation

Mouth-To-Snout Resuscitation
CPR for Cats and Dogs

PAW

Of all things I was reading a women’s business magazine and came across this article that talked about CPR for Cats and Dogs. I admit I have heard of this but never read about it, so I thought I should share it with my readers thinking that maybe some of you are in the same boat I was.

With any emergency situation remaining calm is most important.

1.    Look, listen, and feel to make sure your pet is not breathing.

2.    Open your pet’s airway by swiping the back of the throat with your index or middle finger. Extend head back and pull the tongue forward. Check to make sure nostrils are not obstructed.

3.    Hold your pet’s mouth closed, place your mouth over pet’s nostrils and blow into them with enough force so that pet’s chest rises. Remember larger pet’s need more air, while smaller pet’s need less.

4.    Make sure your pet is on their right side on a hard surface. Place the heel of one of your hands on their ribs over their heart. Place your other hand over the first hand and push down rhythmically and with reasonable force about 15 times.

5.    Blow into nostrils and repeat the compressions until you can feel a heart beat and is breathing on their own.

6.    Check for a pulse. For a dog, the best place to find the pulse is the femoral artery on the inside of the left hind leg, toward the top. For a cat, the best place to find the pulse is on the outside of the left front leg, just behind the shoulder.

7.    When you determine you have either corrected the life-threatening problem or are unable to stabilize your pet, transport her to the nearest emergency veterinary hospital as soon as possible.

This Piece May Give Stagers Paws!

Dog Day Architecture

Being a Mom of two Westies . . . most know that Doggie finds are important to me and it is something that I enjoy sharing. From new improved Electronic Doggie Doors comes Dog Day Architecture. Now you can get rid of the crate sitting in the living room or bedroom, or better yet you can just camouflage the crate you have.

Designed and crafted in the United States, made of beautiful sturdy Russian birch, Dog Day Architecture offers two series:

The Doggie Den                        The Crate Couture

   The Doggie Den

Both series are a perfect combination of form and function and can be used as an end table, night stand, or just a single standalone piece. Each piece has a choice of five finishes and with the Crate Couture you have a choice of skirt style and fabric.

Provide a cozy spot for Fido that he can call his own and possibility other furniture pieces won’t be so attractive.

Plus what a great addition to staging a house!

Where's the GAS?

Where’s the GAS?

gas station

I have to honestly say I have never seen anything like it before… we are literally running out of GAS! Passing gas station after gas station and the pumps are dry. The easiest way to tell if a gas station has gas is by the lines of cars waiting to get to the pump. So essentially we have gone from shopping around for the best price to just paying any price to have it.

This situation started a few days after Hurricane Ike hit the United States. We have been told that a fuel pipeline that supplies much of the southeast was shut down during the storm and the gas is flowing back to Charlotte at the rate of four miles an hour.

Industry experts are predicting that the problem should be resolved in about a week. I can honestly say that experiencing this brings new meaning to shopping on line for housing!

Is anyone else having this same issue??
